Backpack Safety:
How much is too much on your childs back?
MIDDLETOWN- School is back in session and Pruitt Chiropractic has partnered with AIRPACKS to promote backpack safety in September. On September 28th Pruitt Chiropractic will be host a free Backpack Safety Day to ensure that your child is carrying a safe amount of weight in their backpack and will provide free spinal screenings for children, backpack weight analysis, health and backpack safety education, chiropractic consultations and the chance to win free backpacks. The event will be held from 3-7 p.m. with a Backpack Safety talk immediately following.
Parents need to be aware of the growing evidence that heavy backpacks may threaten spinal development and lead to long-term medical problems. Young people are putting themselves in danger by carrying too much weight, and I think its essential for children and parents to learn more about backpacks and how to carry them safely, says Dr. Pruitt.
Pruitt Chiropractic is located at 88 East Main Road, Middletown and has specialized in family health care for over five years. The office also provides a weekly Human Potential Program on raising a healthy, drug-free family and removing self- imposed limits.
